Kansas State’s March Madness phenom and a Super Bowl champion from the Kansas City Chiefs are the upcoming celebrity meet-and-greet guests that the Wichita Sky Kings are bringing to their home games this month.

Fresh off leading K-State to the Elite Eight in this year’s NCAA tournament, Wildcat star Markquis Nowell will be in attendance for the Sky Kings’ game on Sunday, April 16 at Koch Arena. Kids under 10 are free with a paid adult ticket, which begin at $16 on GoShockers.com.

Sky Kings owner Ben Hamd said that Nowell will be signing autographs and meeting all fans before the game and during halftime. Fans seeking autographs are encouraged to arrive at 2 p.m., one hour prior to tip-off.

The next week Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who caught two touchdowns during the Chiefs’ playoff run as Super Bowl champions, will be coming to the Sky Kings’ game on Friday, April 21 at Koch Arena with doors opening at 6 p.m. A meet-and-greet with autographs with the receiver will also be available.

Nowell and Valdes-Scantling are the first star athletes that Hamd has landed in his string of celebrity meet-and-greets this spring, which has also featured Brian Baumgartner (“Kevin” from The Office), Richard Karn (“Al” from Home Improvement), Larry Thomas (“Soup Naz” from Seinfeld) and the rapper Bow Wow.

The Sky Kings are off to a relatively successful start in becoming an entertainment option for Wichita basketball fans. Hamd’s ability to attract celebrities to come to Wichita for meet-and-greets has spurred most of the attention, but the Sky Kings have also been a successful product on the floor.

Led by Teddy Allen, who ranks sixth in the nearly 50-team league with his 28.8 scoring average, the Sky Kings are off to a 9-2 start and currently sit in second place in the Central division. The team has 15 games left on its schedule with nine more home dates.
