Wichita State baseball to play at Riverfront Stadium again

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita State University baseball team is slated to take the field at Riverfront Stadium again this season for the fourth straight year.

The Wichita Wind Surge said Wednesday the Shockers will play host to the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Riverfront Stadium on Tuesday, April 9.

In the last three seasons, the Shockers are 2-1 when playing at the stadium in downtown Wichita. In those years, they’ve played Houston (2021), Oklahoma State (2022) and Oklahoma (2023). The only game they’ve lost in Riverfront Stadium was Oklahoma State in 2022.

So far, the Shockers sit at 2-1 on the young 2024 season, with two wins against Little Rock last weekend.

Tickets for the game will go on sale Thursday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. You can purchase by going to the Wind Surge website by clicking here.

The Shockers are currently in Jacksonville, Florida, preparing for the Jax College Baseball Classic. They’ll play Virginia on Friday, Auburn on Saturday and Iowa on Sunday.

It will be a real test for Shockers first-year head coach Brian Green, as both Virginia and Auburn have made deep runs in the College World Series in the last few seasons.

The games will stream on D1Baseball’s website.
