Wichita State basketball teams learn conference opponents on 2024 schedule in new-look AAC

The American Athletic Conference released its home-away pairings on Thursday, setting the opponents on the conference schedule for the Wichita State basketball teams for the 2023-24 season.

It will be a new look for the AAC this upcoming season, as UCF, Cincinnati and Houston have departed for the Big 12 with Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice, UAB and UTSA joining. With the conference growing to 14 teams, the league will still conduct an 18-game schedule with each team assigned five home-and-home series, plus four home-only and four road-only opponents.

The WSU men’s team will have no Texas road trips this upcoming season, as the Shockers will only play North Texas, Rice, SMU and UTSA at home this season. The road-only matchups for WSU will be UAB, Charlotte, South Florida and Tulane, while the Shockers will play East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Memphis, Temple and Tulsa both home and away.

The complete schedules for the 2023-24 season with dates, times and television assignments will be announced at a later date. The first conference games will take place between Jan. 2-4, 2024 and run through March 10 with the conference tournament held once again at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas from March 13-17.

The WSU women’s team will face ECU, Memphis, SMU and Tulane only at home, Charlotte, North Texas, Rice and USF only on the road, and play UAB, FAU, Memphis, Tulane and Tulsa both home and away. The AAC women’s conference slate will also feature 18 league games this season, up from 16 previously.
