Wichita water park to reopen at reduced rates Friday after being vandalized twice

Splash Aqua Park ICT will open its doors to the public again on Friday after the business was vandalized twice this month.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the park said it would be closed down until “further notice.”

The park, a series of inflatables on a sandpit lake just south of I-235 and Seneca, had been vandalized over the weekend and on July 6, the business said on its Facebook page.

A GoFundMe created Monday to help the park — later taken down — said the second incident of vandalism was discovered Sunday.

“The entire left side of our park was flat ... the inflatables had been stabbed,” the GoFundMe said. “Most of them had been stabbed multiple times.”

Now, the park will charge half-price admission and patrons will be able to use half the inflatables.

Those who donated to the GoFundMe will be issued refunds, the business said Tuesday.

“We’re working diligently to get the park restored so that our customers can enjoy the inflatables,” the Facebook post said.

The business said the vandalism is being investigated. It is working with an insurance company to assess the extent of the damage.

A grand reopening of the park is planned for sometime in 2024.
