Previous story: Comcast’s Xfinity customers in the Indianapolis area are experiencing a widespread internet outage Tuesday morning.
The issue could last into the afternoon, according to the Xfinity website.
When visiting Xfinity's Status Center and logging into your account, you may see a message stating that the issue will be resolved about 12:40 p.m., depending on your area. You can also sign up to receive updates via text message.
"We're working hard to get your service up and running," the website says. Xfinity did not immediately respond to IndyStar's request for comment.
The main surge began around 8:45 a.m., according to Downdetector, which records internet outages using social media and submitted tips. The website reported more than 53,000 Xfinity outages around that time Tuesday, while also reporting another big spike around 1 a.m., when more than 26,000 outages were reported.
Other Xfinity outages have been reported across the country, including Illinois, California, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Local customers took to the internet to voice their frustrations:
#comcastoutage - #Xfinity in Indianapolis area seems to be down too. Finally had a day without back to back meetings so I could get some work done, and now still can't get work done
