Widowed mom thanks those who donate to the Empty Stocking Fund CSRA

In the wake of her husband's death, a mom is struggling to pay her bills and provide Christmas for her teenage son. She is looking to the Empty Stocking Fund for help.

"I usually don't ask for help during the holidays, but I've been going through some things this year," she said. "I'm having an issue with my utility bills, rent, and buying clothes for my 16-year-old son. He has one more year in school. His father passed last year in January, so it’s been rough."

She asks that readers keep her family in their prayers as they navigate these difficult times.

"If we don’t have any gifts on Christmas morning, my son will be heartbroken," she said.

She expressed her appreciation to those who donate to help her family and others.

"Thank you so much for blessing my family with what you could do for us," she said. "God bless you all."

The Empty Stocking Fund CSRA has helped make Christmas better for those who needed it for more than 90 years. Last year, the charity raised enough money to assist 1,300 children throughout the CSRA. A $35 donation will provide gifts valued at $80-100 for one child this holiday season.

Donating online is private and secure. Your donation will be added to the list of donors that will appear in The Augusta Chronicle during the holidays. If you wish to donate anonymously, please type “anonymous” in the acknowledgment field of the donation section.

Donations will appear as “Community Foundation for the CSRA” on your bank or card statement.
