Wife killed in Alpaugh shooting named by family

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KGPE/KSEE) – A woman who was killed by her husband on Monday in Alpaugh has been identified by family, according to a GoFundMe page.

On Jan. 29, just before 5:00 p.m., Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to the 5400 Block of Ellis Road in Alpaugh for a disturbance.

Officials say after the call came in, a woman arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds, where she died from her injuries.

Detectives say they arrested the woman’s husband for the death of Melissa (Garrelts) Long as she has been identified by family and friends.

Donations towards funeral services along with other expenses are being accepted through GoFundMe, and all remaining donations will be given to a domestic violence prevention charity.
