Wilber and Jean Valot celebrate 70th anniversary

Wilbur and Jean Valot of Newton Falls will be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this month. They were united in marriage on May 25, 1952, at the United Church of Garrettsville.

Mr. Valot and the former Jeannette Bailey met at the Garrettsville roller rink. They have lived 65 years in the home Wilbur and Jean built on their family farm.

The couple have three children, Kenny (Sharon) of Newton Falls, Kevin (Sally) of Diamond and Kathy (Ron) Dydell of Newton Falls. They also have seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Valot is a homemaker and is a devoted mother to their family. She attends the Newton Falls Baptist Church and volunteers at the nursing home helping with their worship service. She enjoys baking and is known for her delicious pies and cookies.

Mr. Valot retired in August 1991 from Thomas Steel Strip Corp. in Warren. He was a past Boy Scout leader and served in the U.S Army.

Over the years they enjoyed traveling in their truck camper and treasure hunting at garage sales and flea markets. They now enjoy relaxing at home and visiting with family and friends.
