WilCo Administers 5,620 Coronavirus Vaccines In 2-Day Period

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Williamson County’s vaccine provider Family Hospital Systems (FHS) has successfully administered 5,620 COVID-19 vaccines in its first two days of operation at two vaccination locations, officials said Friday

Family Hospital Systems has been vaccinating residents who preregistered at both the Sun City Ballroom and at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex — the region's two vaccination hubs for residents age 65 and older and those with compromised immune systems.

All told, county officials said, 2,530 COVID-19 vaccines were administered Wednesday and another 3,090 on Thursday.

“This launch is a testament that teamwork pays off. I am proud of the efficient process we have put in place, and I am grateful to Governor Greg Abbott and the state for the vaccines we received to launch these two sites,” Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said in a prepared statement. “We know that the COVID-19 vaccines are saving lives, that is why we need more doses so we can meet the County’s demand.”

Officials said a total of 6,000 COVID-19 vaccines were provided to FHS on Wednesday, and an additional 8,000 vaccines were received on Friday.

Residents eligible to receive the vaccine under the Texas Department of State Health Services Phase 1b can sign up to be on the Family Hospital Systems waitlist. For more information, visit the Family Hospital Systems website.
