Wild hop into world of jersey sponsorship, adding TRIA logo to uniforms this season

For the first time in franchise history, the Wild have sold a team jersey sponsorship.

As a part of the multi-year deal, the TRIA logo will be embroidered above the right breastplate of the uniform starting this fall for the 2022-23 season.

Though this decision has to do with money at the end of the day, according to team president Matt Majka, the partner in the team jersey sponsorship was very important to the Wild. It was crucial to find a local sponsor with connections to the community rather than simply selling the real estate to the highest bidder.

“We were so thrilled when we were able to find our way here with TRIA,” Majka said. “They have been a partner with us since Day 1.”

This is becoming the new norm across sports with the NBA already adopting team jersey sponsorship and major league baseball not far behind. It seems like only a matter of time before the NFL hops on board, as well.

“Let’s be honest and say COVID has taken a toll on our whole world, including our industry,” Majka said. “We are making our way through it as best we can. To have this new revenue stream available to us is really meaningful.”

As much as this will help the bottom line for the Wild, they didn’t want to take away from the uniform in any way.

“Just balancing it with the purity of our sport and the purity of our uniforms was really important,” Majka said. “I know it was really important to the league that we did this in a classy and understated way, and I think we’ve achieved that.”
