Wild Winds Buckle Tree as Hurricane Sally Slams Perdido Key in Florida

Hurricane Sally brought wild winds and rain to the Gulf Coast of Florida and Alabama overnight on September 15-16, with this footage showing the power of the wind in Perdido Key, a short distance outside Pensacola.

The footage was shot over a period of several hours from the evening of September 15 into the early morning hours of September 16, prior to Hurricane Sally making landfall. The National Hurricane Center said at 4 am local time that the hurricane was about to make landfall and would bring “historic and catastrophic flooding in parts of northwest Florida and southern Alabama.”

It also warned of a “life-threatening storm surge” from the Alabama coast to the western Florida panhandle. Credit: @jollymonsails via Storyful
