'Wild World of Animals' to highlight return of Marion Township Community Day

MARION TWP. – The annual Marion Township Community Day is set to return Saturday, from 2 p.m. until dusk, at 485 Hartzell-School Road, following a two-year absence.

Thanks to donations from area businesses, the 20-year-plus tradition will have free food and games, including a community dinner at 5 p.m. and bingo afterward.

The “Wild World of Animals” show will make a return at 4 p.m.

Wild World of Animals, which is located in Washington County, Pa., specializes in educational and entertaining wildlife shows, according to its website.

The business also takes care of over 200 animals including big cats, wolves, large carnivores, primates, birds of prey, parrots, snakes, crocodilians and other reptiles, small mammals and amphibians.

There will be a cornhole tournament for ages 13 and up after dinner, and a community pie baking contest.

Pies must be delivered by 2 p.m., with judging beginning at 2:30 p.m.

New this year will be a residents-only car show, in which township residents only can enter a vehicle into the show, and attendees can vote on their favorite vehicle, which will receive a blue ribbon. Registration will be from 2-3 p.m.

There will be first, second, and third place prizes for the pie baking contest and prizes for the champions and runners-up for the cornhole tournament.
