Wildfire breaks out near Ellison Mountain

RIO BLANCO COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — Smoke is visible in Meeker this Tuesday from a small forest fire burning in Rio Blanco County.

Officials believe a lightning strike ignited the fire Monday. Officials estimate the fire is currently burning 3 acres near Ellison Mountain, north of Lake Avery.

United States Forest Service officials are asking the public to stay away from the area as firefighters work to contain the fire.
