Firefighters mop up wildfire burning in Cache la Poudre Wilderness
A wildfire that burned in the Cache la Poudre Wilderness Area over the weekend was fully contained Monday afternoon, according to the Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Arapahoe Roosevelt National Forest.
The Stove Prairie Fire was first reported by the ranger district Saturday afternoon. It was estimated to be 33 acres, and by Monday morning, there was “no smoke showing,” according to a Twitter post by the ranger district.
The Cache la Poudre Wilderness Area is located generally south of the Poudre River from Stove Prairie Road on the east to Pingree Park Road on the west.
Firefighting aircraft was used, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, which was assisting and providing support on the fire.
The wilderness area is within the High Park Fire burn area, which burned in 2012.
