A wildfire has burned thousands of acres in Ireland's oldest national park.

Firefighters began responding to the blaze in Killarney National Park on April 23.

By April 24, Patrick O'Connor, mayor of the nearby town of Kerry, said it was one of the worst fires the park has seen in 40 years.

Crews continue to try to contain the fire as investigators work to determine the cause.
