A wildfire burning about 300 acres southwest of Carter Lake and northeast of Lyons in southern Larimer County has prompted mandatory evacuations, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.

The fire, dubbed the 37E Fire, is burning about 4 miles north of Lyons in the Blue Mountain area. There is no containment, the sheriff's office tweeted about 8 p.m. Friday.

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for residents:

  • on Dakota Ridge Road and Chimney Hollow Road

  • on Vision Way and County Road 37E

  • on Moss Rock Drive on both sides of the Larimer-Boulder County border

  • south and east of Larimer County Road 37E to the Larimer-Boulder county line

Residents in these areas are urged to evacuate immediately.

Voluntary evacuations are also in place for Chimney Hollow Road east to County Road 31 and north to Sprague.

A Red Cross evacuation center has been set up at the Lifebridge Church, 10345 Ute Highway in Longmont.

Due to smoke from the fire, an air quality heath advisory is in effect for the area through Saturday morning, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
