Wildkats topple Loggers behind McAtee, Borgen

Feb. 2—LIBBY — Hope McAtee scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Columbia Falls pulled away for a 62-28 Northwest A girls basketball win over Libby Thursday.

Tayrn Borgen added 17 points and six steals for the Wildkats (10-5 overall, 5-3 in the Northwest A), who used a big second quarter to open up a 34-14 lead. Emalee Alton added seven points and nine boards.

Madison Vincent scored 12 points to lead the Loggers (1-13, 0-8).

WHITEFISH — Leina Ulutoa scored 16 points, Lauren Buhr added 12 and Ronan used a big second quarter to set the tone against Northwest A rival Whitefish.

Ulutoa scored nine points during a 20-2 second-quarter burst by the Maidens (5-10 overall, 4-4 in Northwest A), who took a 29-7 lead.

Bailey Smith led the Bulldogs (4-9, 1-7 in league) with 13 points.

BIGFORK — Madison Chappuis and Braeden Gunlock led six Bigfork players in double figures with 17 points each in the Vals' easy District 7-B win.

Chappuis hit three 3-pointers; Paeten Gunlock scored all of her 15 points during Bigfork's 33-point first quarter. Callie Gembala (15 points), Ellie Jordt (14) and Keni Wade (10) all reached double figures for the unbeaten Valkyries (16-0 overall, 9-0 in 7-B games).

Izzy Tunison led Troy (0-14, 0-9) with seven points.
