The Jackson Point Bridge in Woodville collapsed Thursday when a rig driving across fell through around 10:30 a.m., according to the Wilkinson County Emergency Management Agency press release.

Officials said no injuries had been reported but the county is working to serve residents who live on the northwest side of the Buffalo River.

"Jackson Point Bridge serves as the main entrance to that section of the county which houses mostly secondary homes," officials said.

Mattie Powell, director of the emergency management agency in Wilkinson County, said county officials are working to evacuate 25 residents from the area.

"We've been in contact with those residents," Powell said. "We have no unmet needs at this time, and we are working quickly to get these people to their homes and sheltering."

Wilkinson County EMA is working with Delta Workover to remove its rig from the bridge, according to a Wilkinson County EMA press release.

Until further notice, the Jackson Point Bridge will remain closed, officials said.
