Willard's Dawson; FC trio earn District 6 first team

Feb. 14—Four area standouts earned first team honors on the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association District 6 teams, released late Monday night.

In Division II, the historic season to date for Willard's Max Dawson landed the junior on the first team.

Dawson averages 24.3 points per game, and adds three rebounds and two assists per game. He recently became the 16th player in Willard history to score 500 points in a single-season, and has the third-most points (1,125 to date) at the school through three seasons.

The Crimson Flashes (13-8, 8-1) have clinched a share of the SBC Bay title behind Dawson, who is averaging more than three points per game than the second-highest scorer across all three divisions of the Sandusky Bay Conference.

Earning second team in Div. II was Dawson's classmate, Cam Robinson, and Norwalk senior Braedyn Demuth. Robinson averages 15.6 points, five rebounds and 3.3 assists for the Flashes, while Demuth totals 15.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Truckers (10-11).

Norwalk sophomore Ben Rothhaar (11 points, 10 rebounds) and senior Ashton Coe (11.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists) earned honorable mention recognition.

DIVISION III

Buchanan earns second team

Western Reserve senior Chris Buchanan and his near double-double stats earned him the first spot on the second team in Div. III.

Buchanan is averaging 14.5 points, nine rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Roughriders, who have won six games in a row entering Friday's regular season finale vs. Mapleton.

His teammate, junior Grant Bethard, was honorable mention after averaging 10.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Also earning honorable mention was Edison sophomore Kayden Bourget, who averages 13.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

DIVISION IV

FC trio on the first team

South Central senior Isaac Blair earned a spot on the first team in Div. IV, as did Monroeville seniors Aidan Goodwin and Jimmy Clingman.

Blair averages 22.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for the Trojans (8-13).

For the Eagles (12-9), Goodwin averages 17.4 points and six rebounds per contest, while Clingman adds 16.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.

Honorable mention choices in the division included South Central senior Brandon Mitchell (10 points, 6.1 rebounds) and St. Paul sophomore Korey Frazee (10.9 points). Plymouth senior Owen Reynolds (11.1 points, 5.6 rebounds) and New London senior Conner Byrd (nine points, seven rebounds) were also honorable mention.
