Willard's Robinson; two from Edison earn Bay first team
Nov. 2—Three area players were selected to the All-SBC Bay Division first team, the league announced on Tuesday.
Willard junior Cam Robinson earned first team at wide receiver, while Edison senior linebacker Connor McMurray and junior safety Marcus Medina were voted first team on defense.
Robinson had a record-breaking season for the Crimson Flashes. He caught 74 passes for 1,275 yards and 15 touchdowns in 10 games for Willard (5-5), which had its best season in five years.
Robinson finished with 1,878 all-purpose yards and 20 TDs, and broke five program season records this season. Those records included catches, TD catches, total TDs, kick return TDs (3) and all-purpose yards.
McMurray finished with 104 tackles and three sacks for the Chargers, who finished 6-5 and qualified for the state playoffs this season.
Medina ended his season with 77 tackles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery. His interception return came at Willard, and proved to be the winning score in a 56-49 shootout victory over the Crimson Flashes on Sept. 30.
Second team selections on offense for Willard included senior receiver Carson Cinninger, senior running back Austin Parsons, and senior tackle Trent Mock.
On defense, Parsons (DL) Cinninger (LB), senior Carson Wiers (DB) and sophomore Luis Antonio (K/P) were second team choices.
Senior offensive tackle Gavin Huff and senior linebacker Carson Hamons were honorable mention for the Crimson Flashes.
Earning second team offense for the Chargers included junior tight end Blake Simon; sophomore receiver Davin Wendt; senior running back Clint Finnen; sophomore running back Cy Finnen; and senior guard Carter Schaefer.
Cy Finnen (DL) and Simon (LB) were second team selections on defense.
Medina was honorable mention at quarterback, along with senior center Sam Schaeffer, junior guard Carson Smith and freshman defensive lineman Bryson Witter.
Huron standout quarterback and safety Dylan Hohler was the league's Most Outstanding Performer.
