Williams lifts NFA past East Lyme in boys basketball; High school sports highlights

Norwich Free Academy junior guard Tony Williams scored 25 points to lead the Wildcats to a 76-53 victory against East Lyme. It was NFA's third straight win. The Killingly girls basketball team kept rolling with a victory over Windham, while the Killingly wrestling team placed second at the annual Casey Yates Invitational.

Boys basketball

Tony Williams, Norwich Free Academy: Junior guard poured in a game-high 25 points and also had six steals to lead the Wildcats (3-4) to a 76-53 victory against East Lyme.

Armanee Davis, Norwich Free Academy: Junior guard had 14 points and nine rebounds as the Wildcats captured their third straight win with a 76-53 victory against East Lyme.

Bradley Saint Louis, Norwich Tech: Senior forward scored 16 points but the Warriors (0-6) fell to Grasso Tech, 61-54.

Girls basketball

Arianha Headen, Killingly: Sophomore forward scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lift Killingly to a 49-32 victory over Windham.

Sydney Crabtree, Killingly: Junior guard drained four 3 pointers and finished with 13 points as Killingly improved to 6-2 with a 49-32 win against Windham.

Hannah Irons, Plainfield: Senior guard scored a team-high 11 points but the Panthers (3-4) fell to Woodstock Academy, 39-28.

Kylie Damble, Ellis Tech: Junior  forward had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the Golden Eagles’ 32-31 victory over Wilcox Tech.

Roselyn Lopez, Ellis Tech: Freshman forward grabbed 10 rebounds and scored six points, including the game-winning basket at the buzzer, to lift the Golden Eagles (4-3) past Wilcox Tech, 32-31.

Emily Orcutt, Norwich Free Academy: Sophomore center scored a team-high nine points but the Wildcats (1-7) fell to Ledyard, 42-27.

Autumn Hanks, Norwich Tech: Sophomore forward scored eight points but the Warriors (2-5) dropped a non-league contest against Haddam-Killingworth, 67-14.

Wrestling

Thomas Brunelli and Zaire Wallace: Wildcats duo each record four pins in a sweep over Newington (48-36), Amity (54-27), Hand (57-15) and New Britain (45-29).

Killingly: Brady Zadora (126), Kaden Ware (138), and Jack Richardson (160) each captured division championships to lead Killingly to a second place finish at the annual Casey Yates Invitational at Lyman Memorial. Soren Rief was the runner up in the 195 pound division. Killingly garnered 186 points, while RHAM placed first with 196.

Griswold: Steven Steniger (106), Caleb Christie (126), Rylee Kenny (152), and Russell Stewart (160) each recorded pins in the Wolverines’ 46-36 loss against Waterford.  Ellis Tech: The Golden Eagles edged Shelton, 42-40 behind pins from Georgios Sezenias (120), Edwin Lovely (126), Hayden Ferland (132), Kolby Sanders (138), and Phillip Johnson (285).
