Williams Valley Trap Team wins national title

Sep. 6—The Williams Valley Trap Shooting Team captured first place in the Open Class division for the second straight year at the Scholastic Clay Target Program National Championships held July 5-16 at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio.

The team is comprised of shooters from three different school districts: Nick Wertz from Williams Valley, Jack and Jacob Rebuck from Line Mountain, and Nicole and Brandon Hood of North Schuylkill.

At nationals, Williams Valley competed in the 200-target Singles Trap event.

Wertz and Jack Rebuck each hit 196 out of 200 targets, Jacob Rebuck hit 195, Nicole Hood had a score of 192 and Brandon Hood hit 190 for a team score of 969, six more than Wayzata High School in Minnesota.

The Open Class competition featured 185 teams of five shooters from around the country and 2,606 shooters competed in the singles event.
