WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — The Williamsburg Community Foundation is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary on Feb. 1.
The Foundation was established in 1999 to help with endowment funds. For its 25th anniversary, the Board of Trustees has established a challenge to grow the community endowment. The Foundation set a goal of $750,000 for community donations with some donors offering a 1:2 match. So far, $325,000 has been raised.
Since the creation of The Foundation, over 1,000 local high school seniors have received scholarships to support their education, a release states.
“We are so grateful to the challenge donors who have made this Campaign possible and for the ongoing support of the greater Williamsburg community,” Chair Kathleen Slevin said, in a release.
