Willie McGinest has this crazy offseason scenario for the Patriots

I’m a big fan of crazy offseason scenarios and former New England Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest certainly has one.

On Monday, he proposed a dream situation, which involves Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson coming over in a trade. Wilson needs weapons though, right? Don’t worry, McGinest has that covered as well. He has the Patriots bringing in Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin as a free agent.

Bringing in Wilson would certainly help the Patriots’ passing game. He threw for 4,212 yards and 40 touchdowns, along with 513 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns last season.

The passing yards for New England would almost surely go up with a weapon like Godwin alongside Wilson. Godwin caught 65 passes for 840 yards and seven touchdowns last season. As McGinest makes his case, it’s fun to think about.

“This is a deep, deep dream, so stay with me. We’re going to bring Russell Wilson over in a trade,” McGinest said on NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access. “Somebody who has the perfect balance of running the football, being smart. A great team guy who’s always going to talk about the Patriots — ‘Got Pats’ — being able to throw the ball from the pocket.”

“Then we’re going to bring him a pass-catcher from the Bucs, Chris Godwin,” McGinest said. “A guy who works hard, will be a great mentor and leader for N’Keal Harry, go along great with Julian Edelman and add some oopmh to the offensive side. You add Russell and you add Chris, I think that automatically puts them back in the race for the playoffs.”

This would be quite the offseason for the Patriots and would make them a Super Bowl contender. Although not probably realistic, it is definitely fun to dream.
