Sep. 6—WILLMAR — Due to the Labor Day holiday, the Willmar City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the board room at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services building.
There will be two proclamations at the start of the meeting, one for Welcoming Week 2021 and the other for International Overdose Awareness Day.
Two public hearings are scheduled. The first is for proposed property tax abatements for tax abatement bonds to help finance certain public improvements. The second is to authorize the land sale to RDC National for a logistics project in the Willmar Industrial Park.
A public hearing will be set to introduce the vacation of easements connected to the RDC project.
The Economic Development Commission will present its 2022 budget.
The council will consider the sale of bonds to fund street improvements and local option sales tax projects.
There will also be consideration of whether to enter into a contract with Bolton & Menk for engineering services for the 2022 street improvements.
Also on the agenda will be discussion about updating the city logo, bringing back the city hall/community center to the council table for consideration and finalizing details for a council retreat.
The council will also meet in a closed session to discuss personnel. There is no blanket allowance for personnel matters to be conducted in closed session, but specific exemptions in the Open Meeting Law allow a closed session: performance evaluations, investigations of misconduct, attorney-client privilege, for example.
