Jun. 24—WILLMAR

— Willmar Fests set a challenge for its attendees on Thursday in the shape of the Ninja Anywhere obstacle course featured at the annual block party in downtown Willmar.

There was plenty of fun to be had off the course as well, between food trucks, kids' workshops, bean bag toss games and a dunk tank featuring Willmar Fire Chief Frank Hanson, Kandiyohi County Sheriff Eric Holien, Aqua Princess Kacy Knofczynski, International Princess Jacky Diaz, Queen of Festivals Sarah Carlson and Mike Kubesh from Willmar Bus Service.

Proceeds from the dunk tank were to benefit the grocery giveaway program at Hope For Our City.

The block party also allowed attendees to meet the Willmar Fests Queen candidates and see the coronation of festival Junior Royalty Hazel Cisneros Ocampo and Jakub Nurmi.

Later in the evening, the block party gave way to the Willmar Fests Kiddie Parade and the Fireman's Challenge, and the Dam Jammers closed out the night on the Block Party Stage.
