Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce to hold candidate forums

— Voters will have the opportunity to hear directly from local candidates before the Aug. 9 primary election.

The Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee will be holding candidate forums with those running for the Kandiyohi County Board District 3, Kandiyohi County Sheriff and the Willmar Mayor.

The forums are held to help chamber members and the public be better informed on where the candidates stand on important issues.

The forum for the county commissioner race will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 29, at the Willmar Conference Center in Gallery 7. All four candidates — Kim Larson, Dale Anderson, Joel Johnson and Karl Kaufman — will be taking part in the forum.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff and Willmar Mayor forum will be held starting at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 5, again at the Willmar Confernce Center in Gallery 7. The candidates for sheriff are Eric Holien, Eric Tollefson and Daniel Burns. Running for mayor are Zeke Dahl, Steve Peppin and Doug Reese. All candidates have confirmed they will be participating.

A lunch will be held prior to the start of both forums, for a cost of $20, to be paid in advance. There will be no complimentary admission into the events.
