Willmar, Montevideo schools will provide free meals for children this summer

Jun. 1—WILLMAR — Children will be able to receive free summer meals in Willmar and Montevideo through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Summer Food Program.

The meals will be prepared by the Willmar Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services Department, which also serves the New London-Spicer and Montevideo school districts and Community Christian School in Willmar.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided free to all children 18 and younger. Meals are the same for all children and are provided on a first-come, first-served basis at several sites.

Meals will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at four sites in Willmar and one in Montevideo.

Lakeland Elementary School, 1001 Lakeland Drive S.E., will provide meals most of the summer, Monday through Friday, from June 7 through Aug. 27. The program will not provide meals July 5.

Sanford Education Center, 412 S. 13th St, in Montevideo, will provide meals Monday through Friday from June 7 through Aug. 20.

Meals will be available Monday through Thursday from June 9 through July 1 at Willmar Senior High School, 2701 30th St .N.E.; Willmar Middle School, 209 Willmar Ave. S.E.; and the Area Learning Center, 412 Eighth St. S.W.
