Willowick Library hosting 'Dream Town' author Laura Meckler

Dec. 28—Laura Meckler will visit Willowick Library at 7 p.m. Jan. 16 to speak about her new nonfiction book "Dream Town: Shaker Heights and the Quest for Racial Equity."

"Dream Town" tells the story of a decades-long pursuit in Shaker Heights and uncovers the roadblocks that have threatened progress time and again—in housing, in education, and in the promise of shared community, according to a news release.

Meckler — herself a product of Shaker Heights — takes a deeper look into the place that shaped her, investigating its complicated history and its ongoing challenges in order to untangle myth from truth, the release stated.

Mac's Backs will be on hand to sell books.
