Carolina Beach police arrested a Wilmington man after they say he fled from a traffic stop Saturday.

According to a news release from the Carolina Beach Police Department, officers arrested Nasir Logan, 22, of Wilmington after a traffic stop.

The release states that officers conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Pathfinder at the intersection of South Lake Park Boulevard and Park Avenue, and the traffic violation led to a narcotics investigation. Logan was driving the vehicle and fled from the officer who stopped him, initiating a pursuit.

The release states Logan attempted to evade police by entering the driveway of a condominium complex off St. Joseph Street, a dead-end road, where he turned around and struck a police officer's vehicle as he exited. Officers then pursued Logan to Snow’s Cut Bridge where the driver attempted to strike two other police vehicles head on while driving over the bridge median several times. The pursuit continued into New Hanover County.

The driver then continued north on Carolina Beach Road, through Monkey Junction, and into the 4800 block of South College Road where Logan drove over the grass median into the Mandeline Place Townhomes, the release states. Logan then fled on foot into a townhome, and officers forced entry into the unit, and pursued Logan as he fled out the back door where he taken into custody after he tried to enter a law enforcement vehicle.

He faces several charges from two agencies. Carolina Beach police have charged him with one count felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle; three counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government official; one count reckless driving to endanger; one count hit and run; one count speeding; one count red light violation; one count failure to stop at stop sign; one count resist public officer; one count misdemeanor assault on government official; one count injury to personal property; one count unlawful use of highway; one count lane change violation; one count driving left of center; and one count aggressive driving.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office charged Logan with one count felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle; one count attempt break/enter motor vehicle; one count reckless driving to endanger; six counts of resisting a public officer; one count aggressive driving; one count red light violation; one count unlawful use of highway; one count lane change violation; and one count driving left of center.

According to the release, Logan was taken in front a New Hanover County magistrate and placed on a $55,000 secured bond. He was then confined in the New Hanover County Jail awaiting his first appearance in court.

No additional details will be released at this time, the release states.
