Wilmington police are investigating a shooting that happened on Holly Tree Road.
According to a news release from the Wilmington Police Department, the shooting happened at 4950 Holly Tree Road, the address of the Holly Tree Racquet Club.
Details of the shooting are limited as of Tuesday evening but it appears to be an isolated incident, according to the release, which added the public is not in danger, no children were physically injured during this shooting and an update will be provided as more becomes available.
A neighbor in the area, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was asleep when the shooting happened and woke up to a notification on his phone alerting him to the incident.
Walking to the grocery store around 9 p.m. Tuesday, the neighbor said he lives less than a mile from the club.
"You know, probably an isolated incident," he said. "Not bringing down any property value."
The StarNews called Wilmington Police Department Communications Specialist Brandon Shope for more details about the shooting, including whether anyone was injured and if any arrests had been made. Shope responded by text to say no additional information is being released at this time due to the area being an active crime scene and ongoing investigation
