Wilmington police: One dead after a motorcycle and dirt bike collision on Christmas Day

One man is dead after a dirt bike collided with a motorcycle on Market Street.

According to a news release from the Wilmington Police Department, at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 25, two motorcyclists were traveling eastbound on Market Street when a dirt bike crossed the southbound lane at 10th Street.

Jason Tuchton, 29, struck the dirt bike with his motorcycle. Both riders of the dirt bike, a 10-year-old male and a 14-year-old male, were ejected from their bike.

A second nearby motorcyclist, 36-year-old John Paul, lost control and was ejected from his motorcycle.

Tuchton succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Paul suffered minor injuries. The two juveniles were transported to the hospital by EMS and suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident.

The WPD Traffic Unit is investigating the collision.
