Just in time for Halloween, the former Bed Bath & Beyond store in Wilmington will turn into a popular locale for costumes, decorations and more.

Spirit Halloween, a seasonal store that claims it's "so much fun it's scary," is set to open in the space in mid-September.

Whether you're on the hunt for creepy, eerie or ghostly costumes and accessories -- or you're pining for former retailer Bed Bath & Beyond's home goods -- here is what to know.

When will Spirit Halloween open and close?

A tentative opening date is Sept. 17. Hours of operation fluctuate based on seasonal needs (hours for this location are not yet set). Spirit Halloween store durations vary per location, but typically stores are open until early November, according to Maria Storaci, public relations for Spirit Halloween.

Why did Bed Bath & Beyond leave?

After being in business for more than 50 years, Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy in April due to financial struggles.

Spirit Halloween, with more than 1,500 stores across the United States and celebrating its 40th season, will be opening Spirit Halloween Wilmington at the former Bed Bath & Beyond. The store, located at 352 College Road, is approximately 30,405 square feet, and will be Wilmington's only location. This year, the in-store theme “Spirit Hallows” will boast cemetery-inspired store design, spotlighting Spirit Halloween’s exclusive animatronics (mechatronic puppets).
