Wilson's Saphia Elkhyati places 2nd in District 3 Class 3A diving

Feb. 28—Wilson's Saphia Elkhyati placed second in the District 3 Class 3A Diving Championships Saturday at Wilson's Roy G. Snyder Natatorium.
Elkhyati, the Central Penn League champion, finished more than 50 points behind Northeastern's Abby O'Leary, who repeated as district champion.
Other Berks divers were Gov. Mifflin's Karyn Creeelman, fifth; Wilson's Maddie Wilczynski, sixth; Wilson's Kate Elgin, 10th; Reading High's Hannah Painton, 11th; and Gov. Mifflin's Macy Shewmake, 12th.
Wilson's Joey Flowers, the Central Penn League boys champion, placed fourth, three spots behind Northeastern's Stephen Bartlett, who repeated as district champion.
Other Berks divers were Gov. Mifflin's Carter Sweigart, fifth; Muhlenberg's Timmy Dietrich, sixth; and Daniel Boone's Ty Czeiner, ninth.
