Who should win PNJ Athlete of the Week for Jan. 10-15? Cast your vote

Vote early and often for the Pensacola News Journal Athlete of the Week!

The polls are open until 11 a.m. Friday at PNJ.com. Each weekly winner will be awarded a one-of-a-kind PNJ.com Athlete of the Week shirt provided by BSN SPORTS. Winners will be contacted within the next two weeks.

Nominees are accepted via email or phone, but will be selected by staff in the absence of submission.

PNJ Athlete of the Week voting (Jan. 10-15)

Boys Basketball: Ethan McDonald, Jay - The sophomore guard averaged 26.3 points during three Royals victories. His best performance came during the team’s win against Paxton, the No. 2 ranked team in Class 1A. McDonald put up 34 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Boys Soccer: Zac Clary, Tate - The Aggies senior goalkeeper collected two clean sheets and made six saves during a 1-1 tie at Booker T. Washington. During the second half against the Wildcats, Clary made the biggest save of the night when he stopped a penalty kick from Kendrick Hernandez.

Girls Basketball: Ayanna Kelker, West Florida Baptist Academy - The senior point guard averaged 16.3 points to guide the Conquerors to a 3-1 record. Although she had just nine points, Kelker was a presence elsewhere with five assists, five steals and three rebounds in an all-around performance against Berean Christian (Tenn.).

Girls Soccer: Paige Phillips, Milton - The junior forward combined for eight goals and four assists during two wins for the Panthers. Phillips had a hat trick and two assists against Pine Forest. She followed that with five goals and two assists against Crestview.

Wrestling: Hale Wood, Pace - During the Region 1-2A Dual meet, the Patriots senior earned pins at 220 pounds against Chiles’ Nicholas Groves and Fleming Island’s Ladarius Jackson.
