What is a win probability chart? Good question, but for the most part, essentially what it sounds like.
In the case of the Buffalo Bills, this graphic from their recent loss to the Kansas City Chiefs actually looks insane.
Since we’ve had a few days to finally heal wounds, let’s review quickly.
After going down 26-21 at the 8:55 mark of the fourth quarter, the Bills responded with a 17-play drive to take the 29-26 lead. The final snap of that sequence was a fourth-and-long score on a pass from Bills quarterback Josh Allen to receiver Gabriel Davis with 1:54 remaining.
Then all hell broke loose.
The Chiefs scored a touchdown 52 second later, a 64-yard catch from wideout Tyreek Hill. Kansas City went up 33-29.
Another 49 seconds after that, Buffalo took the 36-33 lead on Davis’ fourth TD grab. There were only 13 seconds left.
That was just enough time for the Chiefs to tie the game, send things to overtime, where they ultimately took the victory, 42-36. The Bills never had a touch of the ball in the extra frame.
Despite that, the mentioned chart, which is a reflection of the game’s potential outcome, is as bonkers as the breakdown is.
