Winchester Medical Center gets top tier ranking for maternity care

WINCHESTER, Va. (DC News Now) — New rankings for Winchester Medical Center’s specialty care place were among the top in a survey for maternity services.

It is the only such facility in the northern Shenandoah Valley to earn this recognition.

Dr. Leslie Kidd is on the front line of it.

“We are a team that works in concert, the nurses, the physicians, the midwives, our anesthesiologists, our environmental services,” Kidd said. “We work together to keep our patients, both mothers and babies, safe.”

The rankings were determined in a U.S. News & World Report survey for handling newborn complications, childbirth education classes, private hospital rooms, neonatal care and women’s and children’s services at the hospital.

“We treat every patient as if they were our own,” said Clarissa Merriner, director of women and children’s services at the hospital. “Mother or daughter delivering here, we provide that exceptional comfort and care when taking care of moms and babies.”
