Wind advisory issued for parts of Bay Area

(KRON) — A wind advisory has been issued for parts of the Bay Area, beginning Wednesday and lasting through Friday, according to the National Weather Service. The advisory, which is specific to interior portions of the North and East Bay, goes into effect Wednesday at 5 p.m. and lasts through 11 a.m. Friday in these areas:

  • North Bay interior mountains

  • East Bay hills

  • Eastern Santa Clara Hills

A wind advisory takes effect at 10 p.m. Wednesday through 5 p.m. Thursday for the following low-lying areas:

  • North Bay interior valleys

  • East Bay interior valleys

For the mountains and hills, north to northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected with gusts of up to 50 mph. For the valleys and low-lying areas, north to northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected with gusts up to 45 mph.

Impacts from the strong winds could include downed trees and branches, isolated power outages and difficulty operating high profile vehicles.
