Wind Sends Shopping Carts Racing Through Southwest Oklahoma Parking Lot

Shopping carts were sent racing through a parking lot in Lawton, Oklahoma, on June 15, as a dangerous storm brought powerful winds to the area, the National Weather Service reported.

Stefanie Bookout recorded this video after pulling into a parking lot to wait out the storm.

“I was driving to the gym and the wind picked up and started shaking my vehicle,” she said. “As soon as I parked and was about to run inside TJ Maxx for shelter, I saw the shopping carts racing by my car.”

According to the NWS, two supercells moved through southwest Oklahoma, bringing wind gusts up to 80 mph. Credit: Stefanie Bookout via Storyful
