Windham man charged with rape; drugs and firearms found in home, authorities say

A Windham man was arrested on felony rape charges after the Portage County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant while investigating the rape of a minor.

Cody Gritten, 29, of Cloverleaf Road in Windham, was arrested Thursday after the sheriff's detective bureau obtained a warrant to search the house. Authorities were notified about the presence of firearms inside the home, so the Portage County SWAT Team was activated, and the sheriff's Drug and Violent Crime Unit also responded, a release from the sheriff's office stated.

Authorities said they also seized multiple firearms, ammunition, about 3 pounds of marijuana, about 50 THC cartridges, Vicodin and oxycodone tablets, items commonly used in the distribution of controlled substances, and about $50,000 in cash. The investigation is ongoing.

Two other people were inside the home when the search warrant was executed. The sheriff's office did not release any information about them or state whether they were facing any charges.
