Windham showing a lot of pride

Jun. 1—WINDHAM — This community shows a lot of pride.

And once again that pride will be celebrated and honored with the third annual Pride Festival, set for Saturday, June 11, at Windham High School.

The festival is presented by Windham Citizens for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and is held from noon to 3 p.m.

Past festivals have drawn hundreds to celebrate diversity and equity, including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, country of origin, religion and age.

"We also commit to working towards equity, which means everyone gets what they need to have an equal voice at the table, especially those traditionally denied a voice, Windham Citizens for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion stated in a press release.

The family-friendly and free festival includes live entertainment, balloon art, food trucks, activities and games for all ages.

All Windham and surrounding communities members are invited to attend.

Area businesses and organizations will be present at the festival, offering information, displays and activities.

"We've heard from the community that Pride has become one of Windham's favorite events in just two years," said Stephanie Lohret, co-chairman of Windham Citizens for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. "Our incredible team of volunteers and partnering organizations are working hard to put on what's sure to be another inspiring, inclusive and fun-filled third annual Pride Festival."

Windham Citizens for DEI formed in 2020 following the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement with a mission to create a safe, inclusive and affirming community through service and education.
