Windmill Entertainment Centre to reopen after fire
An entertainment venue which was badly damaged during a fire in a neighbouring restaurant is set to reopen following repair work.
The Windmill Entertainment Centre in Littlehampton, West Sussex, was closed in August 2023 after a blaze devastated the Harvester.
Firefighters prioritised saving the Grade II-listed building but it suffered significant structural damage from falling masonry.
Arun District Council said significant repairs had been completed and it was "delighted" it would reopen on 17 April.
Matt Williams, Freedom Leisure's general manager, said the company had "eagerly awaited" the reopening after "months of work".
Restorations included roof and boiler room repairs, asbestos removal and a new studio floor.
Mr Williams said: "The Windmill has been a cornerstone of community life, and we cannot wait to see it bustling with activity once more."
The first event will be a production of 1950s musical The Pajama Game performed by LPOS, formerly known as Littlehampton Players Operatic Society.
Windmill Cinema, which also uses the centre, said it was "very grateful" to Arundel and Littlehampton town councils for temporary use of their facilities.
Screenings will begin on 1 July.
