Winds Lash Puerto Rico Amid Warnings of 'Catastrophic Flooding'

Winds lashed Moca, Puerto Rico, on Sunday, September 18, as the eye of Hurricane Fiona approached the island’s southwest coast.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned of “catastrophic flooding” across the island on Sunday.

According to the governor of Puerto Rico, power systems across the island were out of service because of the hurricane.

On September 18, President Joe Biden approved an emergency declaration in Puerto Rico and ordered federal assistance to supplement local emergency responders.
