Windsor man dies in collision on Charleston Highway

Jul. 24—A man died Saturday morning after a fatal collision in Windsor.

Edgar Kitchens, 93, was pronounced dead at Augusta University Medical Center, according to a news release from Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.

Kitchens was driving a 2008 Kia SUV and hit Sheila Williams, 54, who was driving a 2018 Infiniti, head on after he tried to make a left turn. The collision occurred Friday at 2:10 p.m. in the 4000 block of Charleston Highway (U.S. Highway 78).

Williams is currently in the hospital being treated. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

On Tuesday, 17-year-old Shajira Betties was also killed on that same highway.

The collision is under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
