Windsor Town Council considers paving funds

Jan. 16—WINDSOR — The Town Council is seeking $260,000 in bonding at a Tuesday night meeting for pavement improvements at school and town facilities rated in fair or poor condition.

The council is expected to set a public hearing for 7:15 p.m. Feb. 6 to allow residents to weigh in on the proposal.

The multiyear pavement project is a part of the town's six-year capital improvement program.

The paving improvement projects being proposed include portions of the parking areas at Sage Park Middle School, Oliver Ellsworth School, and John F. Kennedy School.

The Community Center, Rainbow Road Fire Station, Pleasant Street boat ramp and Mill Brook parking areas also are due for upgrades.

Work includes milling and resurfacing of pavement, drainage upgrades, line striping, sidewalk repairs and reconstruction.

The appropriation may be spent on anything related to the proposed projects such as design, construction, installation, demolition and removal of materials, equipment and engineering costs.

Other pavement projects at Oliver Ellsworth, Wilson Fire Station, Clover Street Elementary School, Wilson Library, Stroh Park, Sharshon Park, Town Hall and the Milo Peck Center have been completed as a part of the town's pavement program.

About $8.7 million of the $79 million in the multiyear capital improvement program budget for fiscal years 2022-27 has been allocated for the paving project.
