The local band is set to take the stage at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday as part of Wander Ellwood.

Week 1 performance: Wander Ellwood kicks off with band 288

Wander Ellwood is a time to experience downtown Ellwood City with friends and family. Businesses will be open, there will be more than 60 vendors including food trucks, breweries and wineries, and the open container ban is lifted.

There will be crafts and art vendors, nonprofit organizations, clothing and jewelry, professional services, candles and accessories and swag bag giveaways, and a whole lot more.

Paul Joseph, the lead singer of Wine & Spirit, who also plays rhythm guitar, said they are always excited to be playing in Ellwood City.

"Anytime we play in the Ellwood City area it is a blessing. We get to reconnect with friends and we love to entertain," he said.

Together for 16 years, the other members of the band are Adam Parrott, drummer, and Derek Ruby, who plays bass.

They will be playing original songs from their new album "Smiley Street."

"The album is full of happy, upbeat songs, good thoughts that will make you smile. It is significant to me because I grew up on Smiley Street in Ellwood City and have good memories of that time," Joseph said.

They will also be performing their signature rock 'n roll and country with songs the crowd knows and likes.

Wine & Spirit has performed from New York City to Philadelphia and from Terre Haute, Ind., to Youngstown, Ohio.

"Entertaining never gets old. We are looking forward to hanging out with you," Joseph said.

The Elwood City Arts, Foods, Crafts and Entertainment Festival committee will be there signing up volunteers for the annual event at the end of the month. The official mascot, L. Woody, is there to greet friends and picture opportunities.

Artist Richard DiGia had the vision for the 7-foot tall eagle resplendent in a top hat and red, white and blue clothes with a star-studded vest. DiGia first carved the face with the predominant beak before making the mold for the rubberized mask and his wife, Mari, a seamstress, brought L. Woody to life. He is happy to be part of Wander Ellwood.
