Wine, spirits distribution company is moving operations to Lexington County

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of South Carolina announced it is relocating operations to Lexington County’s Saxe Gotha Industrial Park. The wine and spirits distribution company is investing $80 million to move from Columbia.

Southern Glazer’s is a local, family-owned company with operations in 44 states and Canada, according to a news release. With the move, Southern Glazer hopes to serve more customers and suppliers.

The new facility will employ 225 people, said Anna Gomez, communications specialist at Southern Glazer’s. In 2022, Southern Glazer’s was listed as one of Forbes’ Best Employers for Diversity.

“This investment will result in a truly world-class facility designed to continue to grow with our business over the long-term,” Steve Baker, general manager of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of South Carolina, said in the news release. “In addition to industry-leading distribution capabilities to serve our valued customers and suppliers, the facility will feature updated offices and amenities that make it an even greater place for our employees to work.”

Gov. Henry McMaster, Central SC Alliance Chairman Matthew Shaffer and Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III praised Southern Glazer’s move to a new facility in Lexington.

“The company joins an elite group of businesses that have experienced success and growth at the Saxe Gotha Industrial Park,” Shaffer said.

Saxe Gotha Industrial Park is home to Nephron Pharmaceuticals and two Amazon facilities. The industrial park is located on 12th Street Extension in West Columbia.
