Watercolor Workshop with Raphael Iaccarino

What: Raphael Iaccarino is an internationally recognized artist and teacher, known for bold colors and light in watercolor. With plenty of guidance, instruction and one-on-one assistance, this workshop will allow personal exploration of the watercolor medium as well as helpful techniques and navigation of materials. Suitable for beginners or those seeking to build their skills. All materials provided.

Throwback Thursdays

What: The Orpheum Theatre’s Throwback Thursdays summer movie series provides screenings of films at least 20 years old. Aug. 10 movie is Moulin Rouge from 2001. Tickets are not required for these events.

Members & Friends Opening Reception

What: The Galesburg Community Arts Center's annual Juried Members and Friends Exhibition. Families, individuals, professional artists and amateur artists all participate in this showcase of artwork from the GCAC Members and Friends (artists within a 50-mile radius of our Galesburg community). A grand total of $850.00 in cash prizes will be awarded by the juror in eight different award categories.

What: Shaun Dauksas signs copies of his new book “Lombard College” - Galesburg’s own piece of history. A part of the “Images of America” series, this book is filled with the history behind the now defunct college.

Songbag Concert Series

What: The Songbag Concert series continues this weekend. Devin Flanagin covers a variety of styles and periods of music. American folk, blues, rock, pop, and jazz selections are a few of the styles he combines into his normal performances. Scott “Gunner” Eberhard is a multi-instrumentalist; his sound uses a style of rock ‘n’ roll, folk, rhythm and blues and groove creating a sound reminiscent of the beach, sunshine and summer fun. These two talented artists will combine their unique sounds into one for this performance. Refreshments available between sets.

7th Annual AOW Ambulance Service Trap Shoot Fundraiser

What: AOW Ambulance Service will be raising money for needed medical equipment. Registration starts at 10 a.m., with practice rounds available after 11 a.m. Contest starts at noon. Raffle and silent auction items will be on site. Lunch available from Henn House BBQ.

When: 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 13
