Wings Over Cowtown Air Show featuring Blue Angels delayed due to off-site incident

An air show at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth was delayed Sunday afternoon after Fort Worth police and fire crews responded to nearby Ridgmar Mall, according to a social media post from the base.

The Wings Over Cowtown Air Show, which has since been allowed to proceed, was delayed while authorities looked into a “suspicious incident at a parking lot off-site,” according to the post.

Fort Worth police did not immediately respond to a Star-Telegram request for more information.

The popular air show featured the Blue Angels, a demonstration squadron of U.S. Navy pilots, to Fort Worth Saturday and Sunday. The show led to increased activity in the skies over the city and its neighbors for a few days leading up to the show.

The delay in the show led to people with parking passes for the base and for a lot at Ridgmar Mall turned away temporarily, according to posts on social media.
