Winnacunnet High School names Top 10 students in the Class of 2022

HAMPTON — Winnacunnet High School has announced the Top 10 students of the Class of 2022. They are in alphabetical order:

Adam Cico

Adam Cico

Adam Cico, Salutatorian, is the son of Michael and Nicole and younger brother of Andy and Megan. Music has been an important part of Adam’s life, both in and out of school.

Adam has been a member of the Seacoast Civic Dance Company for the past five years. He enjoys modern and tap but participates in a variety of dance styles. He played Tenor Saxophone in a Jazz Quintet that released their own album and played locally.

At Winnacunnet, Adam is a leader and involved in every facet of the band. He is Senior Drum Major for the Marching Band, Clarinet Section leader and vice president of the Tri-M Honor Society. He has participated in the Pit Band when he is not on stage. He is part of the Band and Jazz Band. He received the award for Outstanding Musicianship at the Clark Terry Jazz Festival. Adam loves to add his own flair to the music the band creates. He writes music on his own but will also add his new elements to the music the band plays.

Adam is a National Merit Commended Scholar. In his time in high school, he excelled in all subjects. He is a true Renaissance man with many different talents and interests.

Adam will study dance at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City this fall.

Julia Edgar

Julia Edgar is the daughter of Adam and Sarah of Hampton and older sister to Hannah. Julia always has a smile and calm demeanor. She goes with the flow and is laid back but at the same time, she has a positive impact on every group she is in.

Julia has distinguished herself in the community as a volunteer coach and referee in HYA Basketball all through high school and as a Girls on the Run coach. With a great interest in medicine, Julia volunteered at Portsmouth Hospital as a freshman and then at York Hospital as a senior. This interest led her to attending the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) Medical Summer Internship Program in Washington D.C.

School activities have included being a National Honor Society member and part of Girl Up. As a senior, she is the co-president of the Sustainability Club and instrumental in many of the activities and education the club undertakes.

Julia has not only been a varsity athlete in basketball and lacrosse throughout high school, she earned the Warriors Award in basketball and the Coaches’ Award in lacrosse. Her peers elected her captain of the basketball team as a senior.

Next year, Julia will attend University of New Hampshire to study biomedical science. She was awarded the prestigious Hamel Scholars Award for her demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and community service.

Christine Ghirardi

Christine Ghirardi, daughter of Marcy and John and younger sister of Declan, all of Hampton, is a top scholar this year.

She has been part of the Student Council and Interact Club. In addition to school activities, she has volunteered in the nursery at First Congregational Church of Hampton where her kindness and patience makes her a valued helper. After “retirement” from years of gymnastics, Christine competed in the Pole Vault throughout high school.

A favorite experience during high school has been her challenging math and science classes. She has a great analytical mind that has made her successful in highly rigorous courses, but she also has a unique flair she adds to her projects. Christine has amazing computation skills and a great ability to think outside the box. She loves her art classes as well as drawing and painting in her free time. She manages to bring this creativity into all her subjects whenever she has the opportunity.

Christine will attend University of Connecticut to study biomedical engineering.

Emily Graceffa

Emily Graceffa is the daughter of Kelly and Russell and younger sister of Chris, all of Hampton.

Emily is involved in athletics and many activities. She has been a member of the Interact Club, Student Council, American Sign Language Club and National Honor Society while in high school.

She has played volleyball throughout high school and was captain as a senior. She was also captain of the bowling team this year. She loves softball and plays for the school and for Rage Fast Pitch Softball. She’s soft spoken and always has a smile - until she’s pitching or on the volleyball court. Then- she is a fierce, strong competitor. She is not only a pitcher but plays second base or centerfield. She was also captain of the softball team this year.

During the summers, Emily is a camp counselor at Tuck Field Summer Program and has lots of fun being able to play all day with kids.

Emily will attend Fairfield University in Connecticut. She was awarded the Magis Scholarship to students who have earned top grades and made the most of opportunities during high school. She will study biology to eventually go into sports medicine.

Hannah Kelley is the daughter of Cara and Sean Kelley of Hampton. Her siblings are Morgan, Nate and Grayson.

Hannah participated in soccer and track and field while in high school, and just completed her first half marathon this spring. Her tenacity and focus serve her well in academics and when she decides to take on a major running event!

As a member of Sustainability Club and Interact Club, Hannah has been an involved member of the school and community. The most rewarding experience, though, has been her involvement with Best Buddies. She enjoyed getting to know her own buddy but also the connections made with the whole group and the fun, inclusive events.

Hannah will be studying marketing with a minor in design studies at the University of New Hampshire and will be part of the University Honors Program.

Evan Parish

Evan Parish is the son of Greg and Shelley and brother to Campbell, Luke and Emerson, all of Hampton Falls.

Evan has been very involved in Student Council throughout high school, including serving as student body president this year. Being involved and serving his community is very important to Evan. He willingly steps up to help and gets out of his comfort zone when he sees problems he wants to fix.

He has been a leader on the Math Team all four years as well. Math Team is one of his favorite activities because it is math and has taught him to think about problems in different ways. Athletically, he has been on the golf team and participated in track and the nordic ski team. He likes being part of a team but also the individuality that these teams allow. Evan has excelled in the most challenging math and science courses and has taken as many as he could fit in a day. He combines his natural skills with diligence, strong work ethic and the desire to learn and grow.

Evan will study applied mathematics at Northwestern University this fall.

Kylee Quinlan

Kylee Quinlan of Hampton is the daughter of Allison and Matthew and younger sister to Alexis and Nick.

Kylee has been involved in the Sustainability Club, Interact Club and National Honor Society during high school. What most will remember her for are her amazing athletic accomplishments. She has participated in soccer, indoor track and outdoor track for all four years. She earned the Leadership Award for soccer and the Coaches’ Award for track. She was captain of the track team this year. Leadership is something that comes naturally to Kylee. She always gives 100% in everything she does and always is working hard.

She hates to be late but that’s not a huge problem when you can move as fast as she can. Kylee has broken school records in the 400M, 800M, 4X100M Relay, 4X800M Relay, 600M and the 1000M races. She is a first place state winner in the 400, 4X400 Relay and 4X800 Relay. As a senior, she was 5th in states in the 800.

Kylee will continue to run track and field as a Division 1 athlete at Northeastern University. She will study biology with a career goal of becoming a physical therapist.

Vania Ramadhan

Vania Ramadhan is the daughter of Yoseph and Liana of Hampton. Her older sister Puspita and her husband Jake also live in Hampton.

With a wide variety of interests and hobbies, Vania is a true “maker” who sees opportunities to create in many mediums. In several Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO), she has experimented with food science, video and editing. Her most recent project is a documentary shared with the school.

Vania has been involved with the International Thespian Society throughout high school, including being social media chair and now president. Theater allows her tech side to merge with her creativity and flair. She is the historian for the Interact Club, has been an assistant teacher for CCD at Sacred Heart Church, is a member of National Honor Society and last, but not least, can be seen doing Stand Up Comedy at local talent shows and coffeehouses.

Vania will attend Tufts University to major in biology with a minor in film.

Kaili Savage is the daughter of Bill and Christa of Hampton Falls. Her younger sister is Annika.

She has played lacrosse throughout high school and was captain her senior year. She participated in Student Council and was secretary for the senior class this year. She was in charge of Community Outreach for the Interact Club this year and was an active member all four years. Be it a class or activity, she always brings a fun, energetic, positive attitude.

When she’s not doing school work, activities or working at her part-time job, she helps out at the family business, Coastal Paint Hardware. Kaili is a very busy, always on the move, involved student who also knows that it’s important to make time for things other than school and work and to connect with friends and family is very important.

Kaili will study mathematics and be part of the Honors College at the University of New Hampshire this fall.

Isabelle Sununu

Isabelle Sununu, Valedictorian, is the daughter of Christine and James Sununu of North Hampton. Her younger siblings are Lily and Owen.

Isabelle is secretary for the Executive Council of National Honor Society. During high school, she participated in the Interact Club, Latin Club, Human Rights Club, Sustainability Club, Poetry-Out-Loud Event, and was Summa Cum Laude on the National Latin Exam three times.

A member of the theater program, she participated in stage production and musicals and was part of the International Thespian Society.

Devoted to giving back, Isabelle volunteers regularly at the SPCA and in the annual Gather Food Pantry “Fill the Hall” event.

Isabelle has excelled in every subject and has demonstrated amazing writing skills. Her focus on her studies and doing the best she can has been unwavering. Science, especially AP chemistry, and art have been her favorite subjects. Outside of school, she is an avid reader and she loves creating art on her own, especially graphite or charcoal drawings. Figure skating and downhill skiing, since age 3, are some of her favorite activities. Recently, Isabelle has also been experimenting on her own with programming, having some fun with virtual reality gaming, learning violin and tutoring younger students.

Isabelle will attend the University of Southern California to study biochemistry.
